Greetings all! The Western Region OMA folks are having a regional gathering at Pilgrim Pines Camp, Yucaipa, CA on Feb. 29 to March 2. Any western regional UCC camp enthusiasts are of course welcome...but if there are any lone OMA folks in nearby regions that feeling "out in the cold"...join us in the sunny southern Cal mountains! It does sound pretty cold up there!!! I was just in Bangor Maine last week for my seminary convocation and it got down to zero. The good news was that the wind was pretty calm. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that is your situation.

Now for a warm weather update. Today is a good one here in Texas. The current temp as of 11:00am is 74 degrees. It is very nice short sleeve weather.

I hope this helps with your vicarious warm-up. :-)

I have attended many of Chris Thurber's workshops over the last few years at ACA events in NE. Every workshop has been very engaging with indepth information. Chris is great at giving you the background on whatever topic he is covering and then helping you to come up with an action plan for your camp. I've come away from every Thurber program with good practical usable information. I've heard him speak on a wide variety of subjects from "cutting - the blood red scream" to "creating internet policies for your camp". Chris works at a private school in Exeter, NH and spends his summer's on the staff at YMCA Camp Belknap (the camp I grew up attending in NH).

I highly recommend Chris Thurber as a speaker, workshop leader and his staff training materials. He'd be a great choice for your next OMA Consult.

I believe the pricing is in size ranges. For us, we fall into the 50-99 range. There is one price for this range of staff and so long as you don't go over 99 staff the price covers it. There are of course other ranges and prices.

In my case, I am close to the upper limit of the range which is a good thing when you count the cost per staff but it also means that I will probably not include any support staff which have only minimal contact with campers such as office, kitchen and maintenance.

Sounds like a great tool. So, when figuring out your subscription price, is it based on how many volunteers you have? Do you have everyone go through the program? Maintenance, kitchen, etc.? I suppose it would be up to the individual sites. Just wondering what you were thinking since you obviously have been doing the research and have been thinking about it.

Hi Dale,
Happy New Year. I'm going to have to check our this RSS feed stuff you talked about - I have been off work for a few weeks and forgot all about checking this blog. I'll have to get my husband, Howard to help me with that. He just started ain Interim in SE Iowa - so I am sitting in his apartment now watching the wind blow the 10 inches of snow around that we hd yesterday. I am amazed at the difference in the weather here and at home - just 4 hours SE of here. I didn't even think to bring my hat and gloves - so am stuck inside. At least the sun is shining.
