Camp Software Question
Hi folks - I have been using EZCamp2 registration
software for several years and am very dissatisfied with the non-integration of
cabinets. This program does not allow comparison of information between
separate cabinets (one year's worth of camper registration data). So - it is
very time consuming to compare past years worth of camper data - to see who came
to camp last year but not this year, to even send our brochure info to the past
couple years of campers - without manually printing and comparing separate
lists.
Will others tell me what registration programs they
are using; if they like it and why; if they don't like it and why?
At Consult 2007 I attended the Thriva workshop and
really like that program - but we are not ready to go totally on line, and it
looks a little pricey over the long haul.
So far, I like CampWise - and they are working on
an integrated Donor module now that should be ready by Spring 2008.
EZCamp says they are going to work on a piece to
make their program more integrated - but they don't have anything to talk about
yet.
I need some feedback fast - if we change, it should
be NOW!

Priscilla,
Greetings from the great (not quite white yet) white north. We're still waiting for the beautiful snowfalls that they promised us before we moved up here.
Evelyn tells me we also use EZCamp2 here in Minnesota. I'm too new here to have evaluated it myself but she seems to have some of the same frustrations that you have with generating reports and comparing years. She's gotten pretty good at running the software so we haven't purchased the service agreement this year so it costs us nothing to use at this point so changing to Thriva or some other program will be a financial decision down the road a bit. I'll be watching this thread you started to see what other folks are using and/or considering. Thanks for starting this thread!!!

Bryan from Pilgrim Lodge in Maine here. I just finished an intensive evaluation of four systems. Three of them were on-line and one was not. I think we may go with an on-line system but I was really quite impressed with Camp Brain. If not for the on-line issue I would be looking seriously at it. I felt there was a bit of nickel and diming and I had a hard time getting their on-line price quote (camp brain is a local program but it has an on-line registration feature - your computer goes to thier site and downloads the registration info daily and it lives on your computer). Contact me through Charles the moderater of the board if you would like to talk further. Bryan

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for your reply - I looked at Camp Brain, but Deb at Pilgrim Point in Illinois conf. has it and doesn't like it at all. Did you look at Camp Register. I was impressed with it. We are not ready to go with on-line regs. yet - but can add that later with them. Now ExCamp says they are working on an integrated update that should be ready by late spring. So, I don't know to give up on them yet or stick with them another year and see if they really come through with this. I just have a hard time figuring out how to get the reports that I need from it now. If you have any additional info or comments, I would be interested.
On a personal note - I attended the National UCC J & W Fall board meeting with my husband, who is a member of it. We met a young lady from Maine and i asked her if she knew you - she said she watches your son sometimes - but I forgot her name. Anyway if she told you hi from someone at that meeting - it was me. Take care and Blessings for a hope-filled new year. Priscilla

Hi Bryan,
Sorry - I referred to Camp Register in my previous email to you - it is Camp Wise that I liked. Sorry for the error. Priscilla

Thanks Bryan,
This is a great example of how useful this blog could be once everyone starts contributing and making sure they check back to add their input when appropriate.
Don't forget to check out the RSS feeds folks. That's how I always get notified when someone posts something new on the blog. For some reason the "subscriptions" have not been getting through to my email box on a regular basis. When I get them I usually get them a bunch at a time and a couple days late. (I think its my system and not your work on the blog Charles)

Hi Dale,
Happy New Year. I'm going to have to check our this RSS feed stuff you talked about - I have been off work for a few weeks and forgot all about checking this blog. I'll have to get my husband, Howard to help me with that. He just started ain Interim in SE Iowa - so I am sitting in his apartment now watching the wind blow the 10 inches of snow around that we hd yesterday. I am amazed at the difference in the weather here and at home - just 4 hours SE of here. I didn't even think to bring my hat and gloves - so am stuck inside. At least the sun is shining.
Take care and blessings, Priscilla
