An update on the Dressler's move to Minnesota
We'll we did. On October 30th the moving van arrived in Merom, Indiana
and Dale, Jennifer, Noah, Grace, and Ronny (the dog we dognapped from
Merom) headed up to Alexandria, Minnesota to start a new era in our
lives and ministries. Dale is busy setting up his office and getting to
know the good folks of the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of
Christ, Jennifer is setting up the house and getting the kids
acclimatised to thier new life in Minnesota (Merom was the only home
they've known). Noah just turned 15 and is a freshman at his middle
school that is 4 times the size of the high school he was attending in
Indiana (16 times the size of the charter school he went to last
year!!!). He's adapting slowly. He misses the country music fans that
were his friends in Indiana and is not so sure of the Heavy Metal fans
he's meeting at his new school. Grace is 12 now and attending a grade
school in Alexandria. It was a nice blessing that she is attending the
same school as her friend Naomi who she met when Naomi's parents
attended Just You and Me Kid Camp at Merom several years ago. Naomi's
Dad, Scott is our pastor at our new church!!! Ronny is missing being a
camp dog since we do not live on site at Pilgrim Point. He goes nuts
when I take Grace to school and he sees all the kids. He can't wait
until the camp reopens next Spring and I take him out with me to be
with the guests at camp.
We all will appreciate your prayers as we ease into our new life here in Minnesota. We were quite content in Indiana and ready to stay for the long run. We heard about the job opening in Minnesota and decided to enter into a discernment process to see if God had something else in store for us and, as a result, felt a strong call to uproot our family and head north. Still, as transitions always are, it won't be an easy and there will be bumps on the road as well as vistas that fill us with joy (Jennifer and Noah saw a bald eagle as they were turning on the road that leads to our new home).

Dale, Amy and family...congratulations on the new life you are undertaking together. A challenge I am sure but one that will offer you all many rewards as your journey in this new place unfolds. Change is a good thing as much as it is difficult at times there are rewards yet to be uncovered. My best to each of you as you settle into your new lives in the "far north" where they don't talk like they do in Indiana and they listen to "heavy metal"......not all of them. They'll be some country music fans in that part of the country.
Your "weird" friend in NH who is off on his new adventure. Let us face these new times knowing that God has placed us here for a reason and it will be okay.
Shalom,
Gregg Pitman

Bryan,
It was a hard decision to leave but there was a definite feeling of a call to a new place and new challenges. After a month it still feels pretty good!! And we're still waiting for our first taste of Lutefisk and a real winter storm.
There is just a little more to tell about why the move was important to me and the family but it will have to be a face to face conversation with a good friend. Will you be passing through Minnesota anytime soon?

Thanks Macia. We have about 10 inches of snow on the ground and I stopped by Farm and Fleet and bought a pair of snowshoes yesterday. Seriously, snowshoes. I love it. Real winters!!
The camp is closed up for the winter and inaccessible, they tell me, except by snowmobile - I'm hoping the cheaper snowSHOES will do the job for me and be more in keeping with the serenity of the place : )

Hi Dale,
Welcome to the Northwoods. I am enjoying things I never got to experience at DuBois Center like snow shoeing. I agree that snow shoeing is really neat and indeed is quite serene on newly fallen snow. However, I also discovered that snow mobiling is a really a lot of fun, so give it a try some time. Happy New Year.

Hi Greg!! I didn't know you were up here too. Where ARE you hanging your hat these days?
We have a bike trail that borders our back yard and the snowmobiles go up and down it pretty regularly. Do they make them with mufflers? I was walking the dog and six of them came by and revved their motors until they figured out which way they wanted to turn. It does look like fun!!
